Stamford, CT – November 13, 2024 – The 100 Black Men of Stamford, in collaboration with RF Youth Boxing, a program for youth at Revolution Boxing, proudly launched their highly anticipated Mentoring Speaker Series at 18 Elmcroft Road, Stamford, CT. This impactful initiative is designed to empower, educate, and inspire local youth by connecting them with accomplished professionals and community leaders who can provide invaluable guidance and mentorship. The inaugural event opened with inspiring remarks from Jesse L. Baker II, President of 100 Black Men of Stamford, and Michael R. Duncan, Membership Chair. Both emphasized the transformative power of mentorship. “Mentorship is about building relationships that empower both the mentor and mentee,” said Jesse Baker. Michael Duncan added, “Consistency and goal-setting are the cornerstones of success. By providing access, awareness, and opportunities, we are not just shaping their future — we are future-proofing our community.”

A Testament to Community Collaboration

The Mentoring Speaker Series exemplifies the strength of community partnerships. State Senator Patricia B. Miller and Revolution Boxing Owner Ahmad Mickens were instrumental in bringing this vision to life.  “This is more than a mentoring program,” said Mickens. “It’s a movement to give our youth access to resources, role models, and opportunities they might not otherwise have.”  Senator Miller echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of investing in the next generation. “It’s hard to overstate the positive impact that community engagement and strong role models can have on the trajectory of young lives,” Senator Miller stated. “When we invest time and resources into our youth, we’re building the foundation for a stronger community. I am proud of this program because it will open doors and inspire the next generation of Stamford leaders.”

Engaging the Community

The inaugural session provided a dynamic platform for discussing the importance of setting personal and professional goals, the value of mentorship, and the discipline required to succeed. Youth participants shared their excitement about the program, eager to learn from and connect with professionals dedicated to their success.

Ongoing Impact

The Mentoring Speaker Series will feature monthly sessions spotlighting professionals from various industries, including business, education, health, and sports. Each session will focus on critical life skills such as leadership, financial literacy, resilience, and effective communication.

This initiative aligns with the mission of 100 Black Men of Stamford: to improve the quality of life in the community and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all. “This program is about more than advice; it’s about access, exposure, and ensuring our youth see themselves in the professionals who stand before them,” said Michael Duncan.

Call to Action

The 100 Black Men of Stamford and Revolution Boxing invite local businesses, organizations, and community members to join this movement by sponsoring, volunteering, or attending future sessions. Together, they aim to create a sustainable program that leaves a lasting impact on Stamford’s youth.
